The meeting continued the discussion from the two
previous meetings, recognising that the essential need is for good co-ordination
between the organisations.
It was agreed that the primary objective of
the exchanges is to ensure that the industry is represented in the most
effective manner. In that connection it was accepted that when new issues arise
the first task should be to consult within the group with a view to developing a
common approach, while avoiding duplication of effort and conflicting
messages.
It was felt important to stress that there is currently no talk
about any merger.
The target of the discussions is to be able to
represent the industry in the most effective manner and to work out a common
industry vision and strategy.
It was agreed that these meetings between
the Chairmen are useful and will continue on a regular basis.
The next
meeting is planned for May next year.
